A.I. (Amsterdam Intelligence) Part 3

Part 1 ... Part 2 ... Poster photos ... Discuss this report

Poster Photos

At the special preview screenings across the US, held on the same day as the one I attended (the difference was that they had to pay for their tickets and didn't get any free food), the cinemagoers picked up a specially made treat for each of them from Microsoft.

Doesn't look like much, does it? In fact, it looks like a blown-up part of the original AI movie poster; what I've shown above is the entire poster Microsoft gave people.

As it turns out, they're very clever guys at Microsoft. What they did was to print hundreds, even thousands of the game player's nicknames or email addresses arranged alphabetically on the poster; they garnered the email addresses from an in-game form. This is just a small section of the poster - if you look carefully, you can see the first part of my email address there - ah328.

Not bad.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper AI game poster if it didn't have any puzzles in it - which is does. I'm told that there is a watermark on the poster that is some kind of puzzle, as are the dashes and dots around the outline of the profile.

And here are the credits on the poster. It was definitely a ground-breaking game, and I think it's fitting to see it compared alongside a blockbuster movie.

Finally, my thanks go to Jeremy and Celia for sending me this poster.
